Eta Sigma Alpha National Homeschool Honor Society

On December 10th, 2015, Jason Isaacs spoke to us on his life and ministry in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a ministry committed to evangelism in public schools through athletic programs. He emphasized the need for having humility and joy in leadership and encouraged us as honor society students to be servants in leadership.

At our Induction Ceremony in October, Liam Jackson and Stephanie Henderson were officially inducted into the Honor Society. In addition, we were blessed to have Mr. Tom Clark, Associate Pastor at Salem Baptist Church, exhort us to s tand firm in an ever-changing culture.

On November 19th, 2015, we had the pleasure of volunteering at Salem Baptist Church to partake in Operation Christmas Child. We loaded hundreds of gift-filled shoeboxes into larger boxes, which we moved to a trailer. These boxes will be further transported around the world to over 150 countries where they will be unloaded and given to children in need. According to Samaritan's Purse, over 500,000 volunteers worldwide contribute to bring Christmas to millions of children who have less than us. We at Omicron Zeta had the privilege of being one of the thousands of volunteers to help with this joyous cause.

        In March, our group was able to serve the local homeless at the Rescue Mission. We had a great time serving food and assisting the staff.

        In March, we were blessed with the opportunity to hear from Mr. Fred Moody. He shared some of his life experiences with us, and described what we need to strive for as National Honor Society members.

        In February, we had the privilege to hear from Mr. Gary Turner, who spoke about his service in gospel focused jail ministry.

  On January 15, 2015, we had a the opportunity to volunteer at our local Feeding America Food Bank. We assisted in sorting and cleaning various groceries, which were later shipped to needy families around the Roanoke Valley.

   In January we welcomed Mr. Chris Ronk at the request of Micah Giraudeau. He provided us with some beneficial knowledge on money management, and how this can be evaluated from a Christian's perspective. 

    In December, Andrew Philips invited retired Chief Gunners Mate of the United States Navy, Mr. Scott Gustafson, to give us some insight on a life of military service.

    During the month of November, we ran a children's book drive to raise awareness of kids in the Roanoke Valley who do not receive many gifts. We donated the collected books to the West End Center, which is an after-school program for inner city kids.
