Apple Gleaning Service Project - September 2012

    On September 29, 2012 the Eta Sigma Alpha Homeschool honor society participated in the gleaning of apples to be donated to the Christian Soldiers Food Pantry.    For a more detailed description of the outing, click here .

Induction Ceremony 2012-13

    On October 22, 2012 the Eta Sigma Alpha Homeschool Honor Society had their 2012-2013 induction ceremony.   New members included:  Zeb Bishop, Rebekah Broughton, Taylor Caldwell, Meredith Collins, Micah and Luke Giraudeau, Carson Farmer, Aaron Olinger, and Mary and Elizabeth Shannon. 

Graduate Banquet 2011-12

To conclude our year, we hosted a party at Calvary Memorial Church where we celebrated the graduations of several Honor Society members and then played a competitive jeopardy game... students vs. adults.

Samaritan's Inn Service Project - April 2012

Rescue Mission Service Project - March 2012

This March, our group gathered together at the rescue mission kitchen to help with serving the food to over 320 people, washing the dishes, and preparing food for the next days meal.  It was amazing the amount of ranch dressing we went through!  Crying over the onions...  More tears... Serving the food. Cutting more fruit.  Food prep. Afterwards, we cleaned the eating area.  Group Shot. The man in the bottom left corner was one of the many great cooks on duty that day. He actually was home schooled himself so he fit right in with our group.

Baby Bottle Campaign 2012

 From January to March of this year the Roanoke Honor Society distributed baby bottles throughout the Roanoke valley and surrounding areas. The bottles were then filled with change  and returned to the Honor Society to be donated to the Blue Ridge Women's Center helping mother's in crisis pregnancy situations. The grand total raised by the Honor Society amounted to $2,900.76!

Southwest Harvest Food Bank Salvage Operation

 In February, we gathered several people from our group to go to the Southwest Harvest Food Bank. We worked from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. wiping down salvaged food donated to the Food Bank. We were instructed by an outgoing, extrovert that really made our time there more enjoyable. Below are a few pictures from our time.

Angle Tree Gift Gathering

As our first service project, we gathered a group of gifts for the Angle Tree ministries helping families whose parent(s) are in prison. Each group of two members was given a child to buy a few gifts for, including a shirt, pants, coat, and a toy of some sort. These gifts were then given to Keith Gregory who brought them to the gift drop-off location. Below are a few pictures of the gifts we amassed

2011-12 Speakers

Wade Johnson came and spoke on financial matters. -December 2011- Jeff Clinton came and spoke on the art of persuasive conversation where the group got to participate in a debate/ persuasive conversation on two separate topics. -January 2012-   Mr. Robert Lee of WDBJ7, came and spoke to us of his life in the news and broadcasting world. -March 2012-
