On November 9, 2018, five new members were inducted into the Honor Society: Saylor Bane, Noah Lankford, Isaac Bouldin, Baker Dean, and Katrina Jackson.

No pictures were taken during this service project, since we had not yet elected our club officers, but on October 23, 2018, we went to the West End Center and provided tutoring help. It was a wonderful opportunity to be a blessing to the kids, workers, and other volunteers there!

On March 9, 2018, we had the opportunity of volunteering at the West End Center in Roanoke, VA. The West End Center works to provide developmental and educational tools to the children of the Roanoke Valley while seeking to provide a positive and nurturing environment. The West End Center also works to give local families and children with limited resources more opportunities to grow into productive and responsible adults. Lola Cox went through school blind, worked for many years blind, and lived and successful and fulfilling life blind. We had the privilege to hear her speak about her experiences and what she had to do to live a normal life.

One in eight people in Southwest Virginia are at risk of going hungry, a problem which Feeding America is looking to fix. On January 5, 2017, we were able to volunteer for them, sorting out food that was not safe to eat. Learn more about what they do here!
On December 3, 2016, we had the opportunity to volunteer for the Saint Nick's Christmas Fair at Jeter Farm. The event is run by Global Partners in Peace and Development with all the proceeds going to poor and impoverished children around the world. Find more information by clicking here!
On November 17, 2016, Operation Christmas Child was in full swing at Salem Baptist Church. We loaded hundreds of gift-filled shoeboxes into larger cardboard boxes. On October 18, 2016, we had the privilege of volunteering at the West End Center, which provides the developmental and educational tools necessary to become responsible adults to more than 200 children every year. Visit their website by clicking here!
At our March meeting, Mr. Jim Soderberg spoke to us about presuppositional apologetics. He said that our presuppositions ask three questions: What is the nature of reality? How do we know what is true? How do we live life? From there he spoke on the presuppositional approach.
On February 16th, 2016, Mr. Keith Farmer spoke to us about the founding of his ministry, Straight Street. He spoke on the many difficulties in its start and ministry, while showing God's plan through it all. He challenged us to have faith in God as He works through our lives.
On February, 4th, 2016, we volunteered at the West End Center, which provides educational help to 200 children yearly, equipping them with the assets necessary to become responsible adults. As volunteers, we had the privilege to assist in this wonderful goal.
On January 14th, Mr. Dwayne Westermann spoke to the Honor Society about his ministry, Godparents for Tanzania, which works with sponsors to provide college-level education to the underprivileged in Tanzania. His goal is to bring hope and to glorify God through the education of the poor.
On January 7th, we volunteered at the local food bank for Feeding America Southwest Virginia. Feeding America strives to accomplish its mission of feeding the 1 in 7 hungry people in America, giving hope to over 46 million people. We volunteered to help see this accomplished.
On December 10th, 2015, Jason Isaacs spoke to us on his life and ministry in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a ministry committed to evangelism in public schools through athletic programs. He emphasized the need for having humility and joy in leadership and encouraged us as honor society students to be servants in leadership.
At our Induction Ceremony in October, Liam Jackson and Stephanie Henderson were officially inducted into the Honor Society. In addition, we were blessed to have Mr. Tom Clark, Associate Pastor at Salem Baptist Church, exhort us to stand firm in an ever-changing culture.
On November 19th, 2015, we had the pleasure of volunteering at Salem Baptist Church to partake in Operation Christmas Child. We loaded hundreds of gift-filled shoeboxes into larger boxes, which we moved to a trailer. These boxes will be further transported around the world to over 150 countries where they will be unloaded and given to children in need. According to Samaritan's Purse, over 500,000 volunteers worldwide contribute to bring Christmas to millions of children who have less than us. We at Omicron Zeta had the privilege of being one of the thousands of volunteers to help with this joyous cause.
In March, we were blessed with the opportunity to hear from Mr. Fred Moody. He shared some of his life experiences with us, and described what we need to strive for as National Honor Society members.
On January 15, 2015, we had a the opportunity to volunteer at our
local Feeding America Food Bank. We assisted in sorting and cleaning
various groceries, which were later shipped to needy families around the
Roanoke Valley.
In January we welcomed Mr. Chris Ronk at the request of Micah Giraudeau. He provided us with some beneficial knowledge on money management, and how this can be evaluated from a Christian's perspective.
During the month of November, we ran a children's book drive to raise awareness of kids in the Roanoke Valley who do not receive many gifts. We donated the collected books to the West End Center, which is an after-school program for inner city kids.
In November, our group served at Salem Baptist Church packing Operation Christmas Child boxes. These boxes contained goodie-filled
shoeboxes that were to be sent to needy children around the globe.
